Greater Taree City Council

Greater Taree City CouncilGreater Taree City Mayor, Paul Hogan said that Council is thrilled to be working with the Festival organisers to stage this significant cultural celebration that will showcase Aboriginal culture, skills, lifestyle and culinary talents to a wide audience.

“Council is working in close partnership with the Alliance to provide all of the necessary logistical resources to hold this event. This Festival will provide an important focus on the Aboriginal cultural experience and will provide a range of positive, healthy, family-friendly activities for our community and the wider Mid North Coast community to enjoy on Australia Day. We are expecting a large number of Aboriginal groups from right up and down the Mid North Coast to be travelling to Taree for this Festival and what a great opportunity this is to pass on traditional Aboriginal cultural knowledge to our region’s youth.”

North Coast TAFE is proud to sponsor the Festival and of our support in ‘closing the gap’ in North Coast Aboriginal communities. Our partnership with Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance is an important component of our work in this area and aims to work cooperatively in education, cultural activities, skills and enterprise development for Aboriginal communities and organisations on the Mid North Coast. We are excited about collaborating with Saltwater Freshwater and other partners to support the growth of new enterprise opportunities for Aboriginal people in our region. We are committed to jointly developing education and workforce development activities that support community-driven employment opportunities.
